Trying to Get Crafty

This scarf has been partially finished since last Winter. I finally saved it from the unfinished projects bin last week and chances are good that I can actually complete it this time! I am learning how to knit buttonholes so that I can experiment with a design idea I have - but it's difficult to describe it in words. I'm thinking of making a really short "scarf" that really just fits right around your neck and then buttons. If you're like me, you're always fighting to keep the scarf wrapped around your neck or fighting to stuff scarves that are too long into your coat. Then, once you have it on, it tends to shift and let the rain or snow in anyway. Hence, the shortened, buttoning, scarf. It shouldn't take too long to get a sample one finished and I'll post a photo if I like the finished product.

Also, Jon and I went with his sister to this place called "Skinny Al's". It is a furniture store of sorts, but they have this great basement filled with crazy stuff. Old school lockers, old metal card catalog drawers, and all osrts of weird odds and ends. Here are a few "treasures" I bought that I didn't know I couldn't live without?

I'm not sure where this came from, but it was probably mounted to the wall so people could pull an envelop and card from the slits in the bottom. I originally planned to use it on the computer desk to store paper and writing utensils, but I found this to be a better way to showcase it. Besides, there isn't any room on the computer desk right now.

These used to be old card catalog drawers. I'll be spray painting them black I think and will probably use them to organize our tools for now. Eventually I'd like them in a more attractive setting - I could store snacks in them or any number of odds and ends. The photos are a bit blurry - I think it is because I left the telephoto lens on the camera instead of bothering to switch it.

Just got my hair cut again - the same girl and I don;t like it QUITE as much as last time. She spent more time on it in June, but I think it's mostly that she styled it differently this time so it looks different even though it is pretty much the same cut. I'm happy with it, it's just hard to get your haircut exactly the same more twice in a row.

I like the idea of a short scarf that buttons. I always have a really hard time getting a regular scarf to work for me. I'd like to place an order for several of your homemade creations. Do accept all major credit cards? Do you gift wrap? Can you guarantee Christmas delivery?

Ironically, the most difficult to deliver could be the Christmas delivery - what with my habit of not finishing things. Actually though, they go pretty quickly and I am experimenting with the continental stitch style to work more efficiently. Perhaps I could place an order for YOUR homemade yarn?

The short scarf is a great idea! I can never keep the darn things around my neck. As far as them being to long, I think that is just a short people's problem :) jk. Your "finds" look awesome. You always have great ideas.
